First World War Experience

Arthur enlisted at Bexhill on the 10th November 1914 as Driver 1104 with the 2/6 Battery of the 2/2 Home Counties Field Artillery Brigade. Later his service number became 876632.

He had a number of postings:

  • 9th Provisional Battery 12 Sep 1915
  • 533 Howitzer Battery 19 Sep 1916
  • To France 05 Oct 1916
  • 96th Brigade 24 Oct 1916
  • 95th Brigade 16 Jan 1917
  • 307th Brigade 26 Sep 1917

In 1917 he was serving in France and had several hospital stays between December 1917 and January 1919.

He was discharged at Wimbledon on the 1st February 1919.
