First World War Experience
A photograph appeared in the Bexhill Chronicle of 26th December 1914 showing a very young Robin – but calling him Robert. There is no doubt that Robert is Robin as the legend states “… of Mr. S. J. Routledge, 62 Windsor-road”.
Robin was enlisted as a driver in the 8th Sussex Battery, 2nd. Home Counties Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, but no other records have survived – even the Medal Rolls Index Cards do not list him so it may be that he served on the Home Front for the duration.
