Family Information

Parents:          William Gilbey (1865-1902) and Charlotte Gilbey, nee Thick, (1865-1958)

Siblings:         Sister – Beatrice (b1902). Half-sister – Florence (1907-1989).

In 1911 William was living with an aunt and uncle in Ninfield.

First World War Experience

William enlisted on 12th August 1914 and went to fight in France.  Sadly, he was killed in action on 23rd December 1914 and was buried in Pas de Calais

William was posthumously awarded the Victory Medal, the British War Medal, and the 14 Star.
