In 1891 the family were living at Stonelink Farm, Brede, and James was working as an agricultural labourer, Henry was a cowboy and James junior was a carter boy. By 1901 they had moved to Bexhill, 11 Belle Hill, and both James senior and James junior were employed as general labourers. George was then working as a gas hot water fitter.
Spouse. George married an Ada M., b. 1881 in Peasmarsh and they had two children: Frederick G. Fellows, b. 1909 in Bexhill.
Winifred A. Fellows, b. 1910 in Bexhill.
Between 1910 and 1912 George’s family were living at 38 Windsor Road and had moved to No. 41 by 1914 and lived there until 1917. By 1911 George had trained as an electrician.
First World War Experience
The only mention we have of George’s war service is in the local newspaper, Bexhill Observer, dated 18th December 1915, where he was listed under the heading “Bexhill men who have joined the Reserve”.
There are Medal Rolls indexes for George Fellows but nothing that one could use to point to this particular George Fellows.
