Family Information

Father: Frederic William Whyborn, born 1866 in Bexhill, died 1924 in Battle. His occupation is listed in the 1901 Census as General Carman.

Mother: Anna Louisa Filmer, born 1871 in Rye, died 1961 in Hastings. They married in 1891 in Hastings.

First World War Experience

He enlisted in the Royal Marine Artillery on 2nd August 1917 (No.15822). He was discharged on 30th March 1918. He then joined the 1st Battalion Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiment on 22nd April 1918 (No.60718) and also served in the 3rd and 5th battalions. He was 18 years old. These were reserve battalions and he was an instructor.

He was medically examined in 15th Sept 1919 and found to have VDH (Valvular Disease, Heart). He was discharged on 15th Oct 1919. All of his Army service was at home in the UK.

Additional Information

In 1911 Census the Whyborn’s are living at 32 Reginald Road, Bexhill.

In his Will, Frederick left his wife Hylda £2587 4s 9d in 1960.
