Father:  Thomas Enoch Ball b.1859 Tisbury Wiltshire. In 1911 Census he is listed as a Church Verger and manager of “Suitland”, while in 1901 he was a wines & spirits cellar man.

Mother: Elizabeth Mary Ball b.1859 in Semlley, Wiltshire.

Siblings:

Thomas Edward Ball b.1889 Stockwell. Occupation: Wine Merchant’s Assistant.
William Herbert Ball b.1893. Occupation: Assistant Outfitter.

Wife: Grace Lillian Willett b.1893 married July 1915. Their wedding was reported in the Bexhill Observer. She died in 1968 in Bournemouth. When they were married they lived at 14 Reginald Road.

Daughter: Edna M Ball b.1921 in Battle. In 1941 she married Stanley J. Hemmings.

First World War Experience

In the Bexhill Observer in January 1919 it was reported that Quartermaster Sergeant E F Ball was awarded the Military Medal while he was serving in Mesopotamia. Out of ten awards in the Brigade his battery (“D”) known as the “Hurricane Battery” had been awarded six.

Additional Information

Edward sang in the choir at St. Barnabas Church, where his father was verger.
